Natalie served as lead attorney in a class action law suit that challenged the illegal detention of people arrested and not given a bail hearing within 24 hours. The lawsuit resulted in over 125 individuals being released without charges being filed. Natalie also led the efforts to reform the Central Booking delays during the “zero tolerance” policies that led to arrests of over 100,000 people annually in Baltimore City. The lawsuit resulted in many personnel changes within the Department of Public Safety, including the resignation of the Warden. Natalie was commended for her work by not only those who were arrested but by government agencies that were forced to reform their practices.
